Import Shipments and Customs Instructions into the United States

Within your routing guide, you can communicate important information about Customs.

Please ensure that transport conditions and packaging are suitable for the products being shipped in order to avoid issues with extreme low temperatures, humidity, etc. Additionally, proper documentation must accompany the shipment including commercial invoice and supporting documentation where applicable.

Vendors failure to comply with these guidelines may result in shipment(s) being refused and or returned. You may also deny unauthorized invoices from carriers where a supplier failed to follow instructions.

Wood Packaging Material Regulations

In recent years, wood packing materials used for international shipments have been identified as carrying harmful animal life into the US. You should use this section to convey proper regulatory instructions to your vendors

 

You should identify the criteria for pallets below:

  1. Use of non-........... pallet. The invoice and bill of lading would need to have a statement of a non...........t. The statement could read:
    ”It is declared t.......................................................ade of ..................................s.”
    It is recommended that the invoice is on letterhead.

  2. A wood pallet would need to be supplied with .................................te. You can obtain more information on f.......................................................with the invoice to customs.

  3. No slip sheet or plastic pallets can be accepted.

Purchase Order:  This will be given to you at time of placing the order and must be included on the commercial invoice.

COUNTRY OF ORIGIN (COO)

Your invoice should contain a statement that says, “Made in…” in a visible location.

Additionally, all products imported into the US and the boxes or containers in which they are imported must be properly marked with the COO.
